Formatting a Heat Map Visualization
After adding a visualization to a dossier, you can apply formatting options to enhance your ability to view and read the data. The available options vary depending on the type of visualization you are formatting.
To format a heat map:
- Select the heat map that you want to format
- From the Format Panel, select Data Exploration from the first drop-down.
- In the Layout drop-down list, select options to determine how the heat map's rectangles are sized and positioned.
Select Keep readability, not element order to size the rectangles to make them as easy to read as possible.
Or
Select Balance readability and element order to size and position the rectangles for easy reading, while still attempting to display them in the same order in which they appear in the Editor panel.
Or
Select Keep element order, not readability to position the rectangles in the same order in which they appear in the Editor panel.
- In the Headers drop-down list, select options to determine the location of the headers.
Select On top to display headers at the top of the rectangles.
Or
Select In center to display headers in the center of rectangles.
- In the Labels drop-down list, select labeling options.
Select On to label rectangles with the corresponding attribute name.
Or
Select Off to hide labels.
Or
Select Proportional to label rectangles with the corresponding attribute name, proportional to the size of the rectangle.
- Select the Show Metric Values checkbox to display the metric value for each rectangle in the heat map.
- Select Legend from the first drop-down in the Format panel.
- Select the Show legend checkbox to display a legend in the visualization.
