Formatting numeric values in a visualization

You can apply formatting to numeric values in a visualization.

Note: You can choose to display 1,000 as a currency value (that is, $1,000.00) or in scientific format (that is, 1E03).

To format numeric values in a visualization

  1. Open an existing dossier.
  2. Click on the visualization to format.
  3. In the Editor panel, right-click the object whose values you want to format, and choose Number Format. You can also right-click the object's name or value in the visualization.
  4. In the pop-up dialog, select the type of numeric formatting you want to apply from the drop-down list (Automatic, Fixed, Currency, etc.).
  5. If the predefined formatting types do not meet your needs, you can create a custom format using the Custom option. Enter the format for displaying numbers, along with the symbols to display them. The pound symbol (#) represents the numeric value.
Note: Enter #.## to display a number with two decimal places.
Click Condense to display numbers in a condensed format, such as 1.5 M for 1,500,000.
  6. Enter additional numeric formatting options. As you make changes, a preview of the numeric value appears.
  7. Click OK.
